Chronic fatigue

Chiropractic care can help reduce the problems that accompany chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). A condition that is not as straightforward as other illnesses. Several tests are required in order to identify chronic fatigue syndrome. Once medical causes are ruled out, the doctor determines that an individual has chronic fatigue syndrome. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), more than one million people in the United States have CFS.

Symptoms and Signs of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Generally, people feel fatigued from leading very active and busy lives. However, it is uncommon for people to be extremely fatigued for months or even years. Recognizing the symptoms can help to determine if it is necessary to seek medical attention. Other symptoms include:

  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Unexplained muscular pain
  • Sore throat
  • Lymph nodes in the armpits and neck
  • Pain in the joints not accompanied by redness or swelling
  • Headaches
  • Memory problems
  • Lack of concentration
  • Extreme exhaustion that lasts more than 24 hours after mental or physical exercise

Chronic fatigue syndrome seems to be most common in people in their 40s and 50s. Women are impacted more often than men.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic Care help CFS patients by relieving the symptoms, strengthening the immune system and helping the patient feel more in control of their body and their condition. A chiropractor helps CFS patients get relief of their pain by realigning the spine which leads to energy conservation. It makes the communication with involuntary systems more effective and ensures that the spine is in the optimal health. Misalignment causes the body to experience a whole variety of issues ranging from back and neck pain to fatigue. With just few chiropractic adjustments, most CFS patients report more energy, less pain or no pain, greater flexibility, increased mobility and reduced inflammation of joints. Chiropractic care also helps the emotional symptoms as well. The chiropractor may recommend changes in diet and supplement.
